Volunteers

The APTA Festival is volunteer-run. We need people to assist with planning and organizing, as well as people to work during the festival. Teachers, parents and senior students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to help out. All teachers who are putting students in the festival are expected to volunteer or have someone volunteer on their behalf.

There are many duties during the festival, particularly in the afternoons and evenings. No musical expertise is required. Grandparents and other family members as well as students, friends & community members can all make a valuable contribution to this event.

Here are some of the opportunities available:

Greeter - The role of the greeter is to preside outside the performance halls at the festival welcoming participants and their families, selling programs, ensuring the audience members are not entering the hall during performances and answering general questions.

Secretary - The role of the secretary is to introduce the adjudicator at the beginning of each class and assist the adjudicator during the class with organizing music, adjudication forms and certificates.

Technique Games - We need people to run games. The information about your particular game will be given to you prior to the day so that you are familiar with what you need to do. All materials will be available and set up.

The following are the times of the festival sessions. These times may vary slightly depending on the number of entries in the scheduled classes.
Technique Games: Saturday April 24, 9:00 - 12:00 and 1:00 - 4:00
Regular sessions: Morning 9:00 - 12:00, Afternoon 1:30 - 4:30, Evening 6:30 - 9:30.

Planning & Preparation  - Even if you're not available during the festival, there are many small jobs that need to be done to organize and prepare the event. If you have any time or expertise to offer, WE NEED YOU! Training can be provided on all positions, so this could be a great opportunity to meet people and learn some new skills.

If you can help out at all, please contact Tara Alldred-Gundesen via email or telephone at 403.241.7809.
